The human spark
Every release starts with a lived question, a contradiction or an image worth following. The premise, narrator and emotional turn are chosen before production begins.
The production philosophy
Lyrics authored by RJ Derby, the songwriter behind Damon Vale. Music and vocals developed through an AI-assisted production process directed by HOV Studios.

Damon Vale is the artist project of songwriter RJ Derby, produced through HOV Studios. The work begins with human experience: memory, shame, intimacy, anger, contradiction and the things people fail to say when language matters most.
AI-assisted tools help translate that writing into music, vocals and visual worlds. They offer possibilities. They do not decide which possibility is honest, which line belongs, when a chorus has earned its size, or when an impressive result is simply not Damon Vale.
RJ originates the concepts, writes the lyrics and directs every revision. AI may assist editorial development, but authorship, selection and final control remain human. HOV Studios uses technology as an instrument inside that process, not as a substitute for it.
“Human authorship stays visible. Tools support execution.”
HOV Studios creative principle
Six connected stages. Human judgement at every gate.
Every release starts with a lived question, a contradiction or an image worth following. The premise, narrator and emotional turn are chosen before production begins.
RJ Derby originates the concepts, writes the lyrics and directs every revision. AI may be used as an editorial collaborator during development, while authorship and final control remain with RJ.
HOV Studios defines the vocal character, tempo, harmony, instrumentation, dynamics and exclusions, then uses Suno to develop musical interpretations of the finished lyric.
Candidates are judged by emotional truth, intelligibility and character—not novelty. The chosen performance is shaped through arrangement edits, vocal treatment and deliberate endings.
The track is finished in BandLab with attention to vocal clarity, controlled low end, dynamic consequence and room. Loudness never outranks feeling.
Artwork, motion, metadata, credits and platform assets are built from the song’s central image. Every public asset is checked for consistency before release.
Human responsibility
Assisted production
A tool can produce an option. It cannot understand why that option deserves to exist.
Forthcoming title track
A real HOV Studios production moving from a human-written lyric to the title song of Damon Vale’s next album.
Originated and written by RJ Derby, with every final line approved by its author.
AI may challenge structure, clarity or alternatives; RJ decides what survives and rewrites what does not belong.
A detailed HOV Studios brief directs Suno’s interpretations of vocal character, instrumentation, dynamics and exclusions.
The chosen performance is judged for emotional truth, then edited and mastered in BandLab under HOV Studios direction.
Artwork, motion, metadata and credits are built around the song before the complete album enters the catalogue.
A beautiful surface cannot rescue an empty song.
The brief must know what the lyric needs before a tool offers possibilities.
More options are not more meaning. Rejection protects the identity of the catalogue.
Breath, grit, room, silence and strain are preserved when they deepen the performance.
Credits state what was made, who directed it and which tools were actually used.
The worldview remains recognisable while each song earns its own imagery and sound.

A HOV Studios Production
Open a question to read how the HOV Studios process works in practice.
No. RJ Derby—the songwriter behind Damon Vale—originates the concepts, writes the lyrics and directs every revision. AI may be used as an editorial collaborator during development, while authorship and final control remain with RJ.
No. RJ Derby and HOV Studios direct the process: choosing the concept, writing and revising the lyric, designing prompts, comparing performances, rejecting weak results, editing the track and approving every final asset.
Music and vocals are developed through an AI-assisted production process using human-written lyrics and detailed, human-directed style prompts. Suno is the principal generation tool; the selected track is then edited and mastered under HOV Studios direction.
It allows a songwriter-led project to explore arrangements, voices and sonic scale that would otherwise require a large production team. The value is not automation for its own sake; it is access to a wider expressive palette while keeping judgement human.
HOV Studios develops the art direction from the lyric’s central tension. Visuals may be created with OpenArt and motion with Kling, then selected, adapted and edited into covers, videos, Canvas loops and short-form assets.
Yes. Credits identify the human authorship, HOV Studios direction and the production tools actually used. The aim is plain transparency—not evasiveness, and not a defensive essay attached to every song.
